Biography of Khalid Bin Walid

Khalid bin Walid was a very heroic and prominent warlord in the history of warfare at the time of the Prophet. He was given the nickname saifullah, the sword of Allah because of his incomparable heroism. He was a very accomplished military mover. Historians note, he never lost in a single war either during ignorance or after converting to Islam. This achievement has become the pride of Islamic history and culture.

Khalid was born about 17 years before the development of Islam. He was a member of the Banu Makhzum tribe, a branch of the Quraysh tribe. His father's name is Walid and his mother is Lababah. Khalid was one of the closest family of the Prophet. Maimunah, the aunt of Khalid, was the wife of the Prophet. With Umar himself Khalid also has a family relationship, namely his cousin. One day in childhood these two cousins played wrestling. Khalid was able to break Umar's leg. Fortunately, through a treatment, Umar's feet could be straightened back properly.

Initially Khalid bin Walid was the warlord of the Quraysh infidels who was famous for his cavalry troops. At the time of the Battle of Uhud, it was Khalid who saw the weakness of the Muslim troops who became weak after wanting to take the spoils of war and came down from Mount Uhud and beat the Muslim troops at that time. But it was after the war that Khalid began to convert to Islam.

Khalid's father, Walid bin Mughirah from Bani Makhzum, was one of the most powerful leaders among the Quraysh. He is very rich. He respected the Kaaba with very deep feelings. Once or twice a year he is the one who provides the cloth covering the Kaaba. During the Hajj he gave free food to all those who came together in Mina.

He is a knight, Khalid bin Walid bin Al-Mugiroh Al-Qurosy Al-Makhzumy Al-Makky, the son of the sister of the ummul believers Maimunah bint Al-Harith ra, he is a stocky man, broad shoulders, strong body, very much like Umar bin Al -Khattab ra. The Companions have a great heroic attitude that reflects himself as a brave person in defending this religion, among the stories about his heroism is what happened in the Mu'tah war, in the eighth year of Hijriyah, the year he embraced Islam. The number of the Muslim army at that time was around three thousand personnel while the Romans had two hundred thousand personnel, seeing the imbalance in the number of Muslim soldiers compared to their enemies, the chivalry and heroism of the Muslims was revealed in this war. The Holy Prophet had ordered that the troops be led by Zaid bin Harithah, and if he was killed the leadership shifted to Ja'far bin Abi Talib, and if killed then the leadership was replaced by Abdullah bin Rawahah.

All the leaders above were martyred in this war, then the flag was taken over by Thabit bin Aqrom, and she said to the Muslims: Choose a man as your leader, so they chose Khalid bin Walid, so in this event his courage and genius were clearly shown. He reorganized the troops, so he changed the strategy by making the right-wing troops move to the left and conversely the left-wing troops moved to the right, then some of the troops were positioned a little backwards, after a while they came as if the new rock troops had arrived, this is In order to weaken the enemy's fighting spirit, then the unity of the Muslim army was seen to be large over the Roman troops, causing them to retreat and their morale to weaken.

The conclusion drawn from the story of the companions of Khalid bin Walid:

1. Muslim youth must not be weak

2. In the battlefield we must be smart in making strategies

3. If you want to get satisfactory results, we must give maximum effort

4. We are encouraged to do something that is our fassion.

5. There should not be a feeling of being sufficient in spreading the religion of Islam.
